Jennifer Aniston became emotional while sharing her special connection with Shirley MacLaine and recalling her late dog, Norman, during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show on September 12. The 56-year-old actress opened up about a touching story that linked her personal life with her professional experiences.

Aniston and MacLaine starred together in the 2005 romantic comedy Rumor Has It, where MacLaine played Aniston’s grandmother. However, their bond went far beyond acting. Aniston revealed that MacLaine believes they were mother and daughter in a past life, which explains why they felt such an instant closeness.

Shirley MacLaine’s Heartfelt Video Message

On the show, Drew Barrymore surprised Aniston by playing a video message from Shirley MacLaine and her daughter Sachi Parker. In the message, MacLaine praised Aniston for being “really wonderful to work with” during the filming of Rumor Has It. Jennifer Aniston became visibly emotional and teary-eyed while watching the message.

When asked why the message touched her so deeply, Aniston explained, “I was with her when my dog passed away.” She shared that her beloved Welsh corgi-terrier mix, Norman, died in May 2011 at the age of 15 while she was at MacLaine’s ranch in New Mexico. At that time, she attended a past life regression retreat, which she now describes as “crazy” in hindsight.

In a heartfelt moment, Aniston turned to Drew Barrymore’s dog, Douglas, and asked, “Are you worried about me because I’m crying? And my dog, I’m talking about Norman?”

Jennifer Aniston’s Strong Bond With Pets

Jennifer Aniston has always expressed deep love for her pets. Currently, she cares for two dogs named Lord Chesterfield and Clyde. Her first two dogs, Norman and Dolly, who passed away in 2011 and 2019 respectively, hold a special place in her heart.

In a 2024 interview with People, Aniston shared, “You mention them, and I get a lump in my throat.” She also revealed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert that she has a tattoo of Norman’s name on her foot.

Interestingly, Norman appeared in an episode of the famous TV show Friends. During a scene where Joey and Chandler babysat Ross’ baby but accidentally left the baby on a bus, Norman made an appearance. Aniston recalled meeting the animal trainer on set and asking if she could adopt one of the dogs. She was told about Norman a stubborn dog who never followed commands and was about to retire.

Jennifer Aniston adopted Norman, and he became a cherished part of her life. Even years after his passing, she continues to treasure his memory deeply.
