Actor Armie Hammer has reignited public curiosity with a bold and bizarre confession on his podcast, Armie Hammer Time. In a recent episode aired on July 28, Hammer opened up about his excessive cannabis use, claiming he smoked “upwards of 15 to 20 joints a day” at one point.

While his statement alone might have raised eyebrows, it’s the actor’s follow-up remarks—including getting Johnny Depp “super stoned” during a press tour—that have stunned both fans and critics.

Friend Confirms Hammer’s Extreme Habit

Hammer was joined by close friend Ashton Ramsey, who didn’t hold back either. Ramsey referred to Hammer as “the person who smoked more marijuana than anyone on Earth.” Laughing, Hammer didn’t deny it. “That’s probably true,” he said casually, adding that smoking was once a dominant part of his daily routine.

The tone turned even more startling when Hammer quipped, “I loved poisoning people.” He later clarified he meant getting people so high that they could barely function. “I loved smoking marijuana with people to the point where they were like, ‘I’m so stoned I can’t find my feet.’” The moment sparked both amusement and discomfort among listeners.

Johnny Depp Allegation: A Flashback to ‘The Lone Ranger’

Hammer’s most sensational reveal was yet to come. Recalling an incident from the press tour of Disney’s The Lone Ranger (2013), Hammer claimed he once got co-star Johnny Depp “super stoned” before a major press event.

“They kept us apart after that,” Hammer said, implying that Depp’s PR team intervened to prevent a repeat episode.

Even though Depp has not addressed the allegation, the report further muddies Hammer’s already contentious public persona, particularly in light of Depp’s own contentious media past over the past ten years.

A Podcast That’s Turning Heads

Hammer’s podcast Armie Hammer Time, launched in October 2024, has been gaining traction for its raw and unfiltered tone. Sometimes with harsh honesty, and other times with provocations that seem to be designed to garner attention, the actor utilizes the stage to review his own life controversies, history of substance misuse, and public downfall.

This recent episode has undoubtedly amplified listenership, even as it draws renewed criticism.

Fall from Grace

Hammer was once seen as one of Hollywood’s rising stars, with films like Call Me by Your Name, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and The Social Network in his portfolio. However, other women reported emotional abuse, extortion, and alarming texts about cannibalistic thoughts in early 2021.

The backlash was swift. He was dropped by his talent agency, WME, exited several high-profile film projects, and was publicly denounced by collaborators. Hammer denied all criminal wrongdoing, and a Los Angeles County investigation eventually ended without charges. However, the damage to his career was immense.

The Road to Redemption?

With time, Hammer appears to be testing the waters for a return to public life. He quietly appeared in a minor role in The Dark Knight Rises: Reborn earlier this year and is reportedly part of the ensemble cast in an upcoming western, The Frontier Crucible. His podcast seems to serve as both therapy and PR — a space where he attempts to control his narrative, even if it involves wild confessions like the latest one.

For an actor whose name once dominated headlines for all the wrong reasons, this latest move shows Hammer is still keen on staying in the spotlight—regardless of how controversial the path may be.
