Bollywood icon Madhuri Dixit is making a dramatic comeback to television with the upcoming JioHotstar series Mrs Deshpande. The announcement came with a gripping 20-second teaser that left fans both surprised and intrigued, hinting at a twist “no one saw coming.”
Madhuri Dixit in A Dark New Role
In the teaser shared on her social media on Wednesday, Madhuri is seen removing her jewellery and makeup, only for the scene to abruptly cut to her wearing a prison uniform with a sly, knowing smirk. This glimpse reveals her bold new avatar as a chilling serial killer, marking one of the darkest roles of her career.
Earlier, Madhuri teased fans with a cryptic Instagram post featuring reimagined lyrics from her classic songs like “Ek Do Teen Chaar Paanch Cheh Saath Aath” and “Bholi si surat, ankhon mein masti”, accompanied by the caption “Coming soon,” sparking speculation about her next project.
Speaking at the IIFA Awards earlier this year, Madhuri said, “There’s no conscious effort as such, but the role came my way, and I thought it’s something I would love to do because it explores a different part of me, and I’m looking forward to it.”
Madhuri Dixit’s Mrs Deshpande Inspired by French Thriller ‘La Mante’
Mrs Deshpande, directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, is an official remake of the French thriller La Mante. The story follows a notorious serial killer who agrees to help the police catch a copycat murderer, but only on the condition that she works exclusively with her estranged son, creating a tense and emotionally charged partnership.
