Diljit Dosanjh has come under heavy criticism for featuring Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in his latest film ‘Sardaar Ji 3’. Many fans and celebrities have expressed their anger, especially in light of rising tensions between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack in April.

Kangana Reacts to Controversy, Questions Diljit’s Intentions

Speaking to Times Now, actress Kangana Ranaut strongly reacted to the controversy. She questioned Diljit’s decision to work with a Pakistani actor during a sensitive time. “I’ve said enough about these people,” she began, pointing out that everyone has a role to play in building the nation.

“At the beginning of our conversation, I pointed out that we need to have a sentiment of nation-building – everybody is a stakeholder. Why don’t we have that sentiment? Why is Diljit having his own path? Why should somebody else, cricketers, have their own path? Even a soldier has his own path of nationalism,” Kangana said.

She emphasized the need to create unity among all professions. “Somebody is having this, the poor soldier is having the path of nationalism, poor politician is having the path of nationalism. Some genuinely have their own agenda. I am not saying it is unnatural, but we must try to align everybody,” she added.

According to her, this responsibility lies with political leaders. “We must try to align, and that will happen only when we bring this idea to these politicians; it is your work,” she said.

Why the Film Sparked Outrage

The controversy erupted due to the timing of Hania Aamir’s appearance in the film. Following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

In response to the attack and military action, Indian social media platforms began banning the accounts of several Pakistani artists. These included Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Ali Zafar, Atif Aslam, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, and Hania Aamir.

Therefore, Diljit’s collaboration with a Pakistani actress shortly after these developments angered many Indians, who viewed it as insensitive or politically inappropriate.

Celebrities React to the Film’s Casting

Many public figures have commented on the ongoing backlash. Veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar and singer Mika Singh, among others, have shared their thoughts on the issue. Some supported the decision as a creative choice, while others questioned it given the political context.
