How Shilpa Shetty Transitioned from Bollywood Star to Business Entrepreneur? Details Inside

Shilpa Shetty has always stood out as one of the most popular names in Bollywood. She carved her niche through films, but over the years she built an empire of business ventures while from fashion and fitness to food and wellness, she created multiple income streams. She invested in restaurant chains, fitness apps, clothing brands, VFX, wellness companies, and even the IPL but however, her business journey recently hit turbulence with the closure of her iconic restaurant Bastian Bandra. The closure came shortly after she and her husband Raj Kundra were booked in a Rs 60 crore cheating case.

Transition from Actress to Entrepreneur

Calling Shilpa Shetty a successful businesswoman will not be wrong. She shifted focus from acting to business and became one of India’s most influential celebrity entrepreneurs. She started with investments in fitness, fashion, and wellness before entering the hospitality industry. Her role as a businesswoman cemented her position beyond films.

Co-owner of Bastian Restaurant Chain

Her most popular venture remains the Bastian restaurant chain in Mumbai. In 2019, reports confirmed that she acquired a 50% stake. Hotelier Ranjeet Bindra owns the restaurant, and Bastian soon became one of the most talked-about food destinations in the city.

Clothing Brand DreamSS

In 2020, she launched her apparel label DreamSS with designers Charu and Sandeep Arora and the brand targeted style-conscious customers and marked her entry into fashion retail.

Fitness App Simple Soulful: Shilpa Shetty

Fitness always remained her passion. In 2019, she launched her own fitness app, Simple Soulful: Shilpa Shetty. The app provided personalised diet charts, workout guides, and yoga sessions. It encouraged users to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

Investment in SVS Studio

She also invested heavily in technology. In 2022, she co-founded SVS Studio with Sandeep Mane and invested Rs 10 crore in the VFX company. The studio worked to deliver advanced visual effects for Indian films.

Multiple Business Investments

She further expanded her portfolio by investing in wellness and skincare. She supported Mamaearth, and invested Rs 2.25 crore in 100Percent Nourishment Pvt Ltd.

Brand Endorsements

Alongside her businesses, she endorsed several brands. Her associations included Yakult Danone, Chicnutrix, ZOFF, Fast&Up, B Natural, and SRL Diagnostics.

IPL Journey with Rajasthan Royals

She and her husband Raj Kundra also owned an 11.7 percent stake in Rajasthan Royals. However, they gave up their ownership after the 2015 betting scandal.

Bastian Bandra Closure Amid Cheating Case

Recently, Shilpa Shetty announced the closure of Bastian Bandra. On Tuesday, Shilpa Shetty took to her Instagram stories and shared a long note sharing the news with her fans and followers. “This Thursday marks the end of an era as we bid farewell to one of Mumbai’s most iconic destinations – BASTIAN BANDRA. A venue that gave us countless memories, unforgettable nights, and moments that shaped the city’s nightlife now takes its final bow,” she wrote.

“To honour this legendary space, we’re curating a very special evening for our closest patrons – a night filled with nostalgia, energy, and magic, celebrating everything Bastian has stood for one last time. While we say goodbye to BASTIAN BANDRA, our Thursday night ritual Arcane Affair will continue next week at BASTIAN AT THE TOP, carrying forward the legacy in a brand-new chapter with brand new experiences,” the actress added.

However, the closure came weeks after she and Raj Kundra were booked by the Economic Offences Wing in a Rs 60.4 crore cheating case. Another unidentified person was also charged in the matter.
