Actor Dhanush recently attended the premiere of Mrunal Thakur’s film Son of Sardaar 2. Videos of the two interacting at the event quickly went viral, and within hours, rumours of a possible relationship began making headlines.
Amid this chatter, Dhanush shared a cryptic Instagram post that caught everyone’s attention. Posting a serene picture of himself enjoying a beach view with mountains in the backdrop, he wrote, “Accidental magic is the best creation.” Interestingly, Mrunal liked the post within minutes, further fueling speculation about the duo.
How the Rumours Started
This is not the first time Dhanush and Mrunal’s names have been linked. Earlier, the actress attended the wrap-up party of Tere Ishq Mein, a film starring Dhanush and directed by Aanand L Rai. Later, their brief but widely shared interaction at the Son of Sardaar 2 screening added more spark to the gossip. Adding to it, Mrunal also started following Dhanush’s sisters on Instagram, which did not go unnoticed by fans.
Mrunal Clears the Air
In a recent interview with Only Kollywood, Mrunal reacted to the rumours and laughed them off. She dismissed the stories, saying Dhanush is simply a “good friend.” She also found the speculations “funny.”
Clarifying further, Mrunal said that Dhanush’s presence at the screening had nothing to do with her. “Dhanush attended the Son of Sardaar 2 event. No one should misunderstand that. It was Ajay Devgn who invited him,” she explained.

What Sources Say
While Mrunal brushed aside the rumours, a source close to the two gave a different picture. The source claimed, “Yes, it’s true that they are dating. But it’s too new, and they’ve no plans of making their relationship official before the public or the media. At the same time, they’re unfazed about going out and about and being spotted. Friends are truly rooting for them, as they’re quite similar and compatible when it comes to their values, choices, and thoughts.”
Their Personal Lives
Mrunal has earlier faced rumours about dating rapper Badshah, which he later denied.
Dhanush, on the other hand, was married to Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth for 18 years. The couple announced their separation in 2022. They filed for divorce in April 2024, and the legal separation was finalized in November the same year.
