The big screen witnessed a heated clash on 5 September 2025 as several films released on the same day. Action entertainer Baaghi 4 headlined by Tiger Shroff pulled audiences in large numbers, while Vivek Agnihotri’s The Bengal Files failed to make an impact despite its ensemble cast. At the same time, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, starring Kalyani Priyadarshan, carried its momentum into the second week with solid earnings.

Baaghi 4 Packs a Punch on Day 1

Backed by producer Sajid Nadiadwala, Baaghi 4 arrived with strong hype, thanks to its trailer and music. The film, featuring Tiger Shroff, Sanjay Dutt, Sonam Bajwa, and Harnaaz Sandhu, drew big crowds on opening day. According to early trade reports, it posted an ₹12 crore collection on Day 1.

Tiger’s action sequences and Sanjay Dutt’s imposing negative role proved to be the biggest draw. Even though reviews on the story were mixed, the film’s mass appeal ensured a powerful start.

The Bengal Files Opens on a Weak Note

In contrast, The Bengal Files failed to connect with moviegoers. Starring Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, and Darshan Kumar, the film could manage only ₹1.75 crore on its first day, as per trade estimates.

The film was already surrounded by controversies, especially in West Bengal where protests disrupted its promotions. Despite its strong cast, the opening remained below expectations, with audiences largely staying away from theatres.

Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra Continues Its Box Office Run

While the new releases fought for attention, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, which hit theatres on 28 August 2025, held its ground firmly. Directed by Dominic Arun, the superhero film featuring Kalyani Priyadarshan as India’s first female superhero has been winning over audiences since Day 1.

In just nine days, the film has amassed ₹62.45 crore in India and ₹123.50 crore globally. On its ninth day alone, it earned ₹7.75 crore net across multiple languages. The film’s Malayalam version recorded 71.67% occupancy, while the Telugu version stood at 39.88%, showing its pan-India pull.

Strong performances, a fresh superhero theme, and positive word of mouth have turned it into an unexpected blockbuster.

Final Word

  • Baaghi 4: ₹12 crore Day 1 – strong opener among the fresh releases.

  • The Bengal Files: ₹1.75 crore Day 1 – struggled to make a mark.

  • Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra: ₹62.45 crore India total, ₹123.50 crore worldwide – steady blockbuster in its second week.

In short, Baaghi 4 emerged as the clear Day-1 winner, Lokah Chapter 1 continued its dream run, while The Bengal Files faces an uphill task to recover at the box office.
