Fourth suspect arrested in case of fraudulent plot registrations in illegal colonies

In Mohali, the police have arrested a fourth suspect, identified as Vikki Thakur, in a case involving fraudulent registrations of plots in illegal colonies using fake No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for the past year in the Derabassi tehsil. The police have obtained a two-day remand for the suspect. Another suspect, 23-year-old Ritik Goyal, who had already been in police custody for five days, was presented in court today, and his remand was extended for two more days.
The investigation conducted by the police revealed that Vikki Thakur and Ritik Goyal were involved in preparing fake maps based on which registrations were carried out. Thakur had operated a property office in the village of Bhankharpur. The seized laptop from Ritik has provided significant evidence related to creating fake NOCs, which will help uncover the involvement of other members of the gang.
These individuals, under the guise of fake NOCs, would sell plots in illegal colonies by cutting through well-known and large illegal colonies in Derabassi city without obtaining colony clearances. They would assure the general public that they were complying with all the colony’s regulations. One colonizer, who has registered 70 plots in a single colony, has already been arrested. Several other prominent colonizers in the city are now coming to light who have registered plots in illegal colonies without the necessary approvals, and the police may soon take action against them.
