The Farrukhabad police have confirmed that the two teenage girls, whose bodies were found hanging from a tree in Bhagautipur village of Kaimganj, died by suicide. The confirmation comes after an analysis of the post-mortem reports. Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the case.

Farrukhabad Superintendent of Police, Alok Priyadarshi, stated, “The post-mortem report confirms that the girls died by suicide. The investigation revealed that the accused had been harassing the girls for talking on the phone, which led to the tragic incident. Further action is being taken in the case.”

The authorities dismissed the initial suspicions of murder raised by the victims’ families. The families had alleged that one of the bodies bore injuries consistent with being pierced by thorns and struck with a belt, raising doubts about the cause of death. The father of one of the deceased voiced his concerns, questioning the police’s conclusion and demanding a thorough investigation.

Despite the family’s allegations, the Chief Medical Officer of Farrukhabad, Avanindra Kumar, confirmed that the post-mortem showed no evidence of sexual or physical assault. “The post-mortem of both girls has been conducted, and there is no evidence of sexual or physical assault,” Kumar stated.

The incident has sparked political controversy, with Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad criticizing the Uttar Pradesh government’s handling of law and order. Prasad condemned the incident, expressing concern over the rising number of such cases in the state and accusing the government of failing to maintain control. “It is saddening and painful that under the BJP government led by Yogi Adityanath, law and order have completely failed,” he said.

The investigation continues as the community awaits further developments in this tragic case.
