Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today announced that the farmers who have suffered a total crop loss will get compensation of Rs 15,000 per acre. The registration of completely damaged crops is being done in flood-hit areas of Haryana and the losses of farmers are being assessed. Along with this, the survey and verification work of those farmers who have resown paddy will begin with immediate effect and a report is to be prepared by 31 July.
Crop damage in Kurukshetra has been reported on about 15,000 acres, the CM said on Tuesday. Chief Minister Khattar also took stock of the flood-affected areas in Bhiwani Khera. He said that the construction work of VLD College will be started soon on 10 acres of land in Bhiwani Khera village of Kurukshetra district.
For this project, the Gram Panchayat has already given 10 acres of land in the name of Lala Lajpat Rai Veterinary University, Hisar. The Chief Minister said that 12 districts have been affected by the flood. Of these, six are adjacent to the Yamuna and six to the Ghaggar.
While there are predictions of rain till 15 August, they are likely to have less impact. “The people of the state should not worry as the state government is working on a war footing to provide every possible help to those in flood-affected areas,” said Khattar. He added that in these 12 districts, the government and the administration have worked to provide all possible relief to the people.
Social workers and religious organisations have also contributed to relief work. The Chief Minister said that after taking stock of Bhiwani Khera village in Kurukshetra, this issue of resowing of paddy also was raised before him. Therefore to address the same immediate directions have been issued to the officers concerned to conduct surveys and verify complaints.
