In a show of solidarity, farmer unions will organize an “Insaaf March” in Mohali on Sunday to support CISF woman constable Kulwinder Kaur, who allegedly slapped Mandi MP-elect Kangana Ranaut at Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport on Thursday.
The march is set to commence from Amb Sahib Gurdwara in Phase 8 at around 10 am and will proceed towards the Mohali SSP’s office in Sector 76. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political), Bhartiya Kisan Naujawan Union, and Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee have pledged their support to the suspended CISF constable. Kulwinder Kaur has been charged under Sections 323 and 341 of the Indian Penal Code following a complaint by the CISF.
Kulwinder Kaur was immediately suspended after the incident. She is married to a CISF officer posted in Jammu, and the couple has two children.
Farmer leaders and supporters have rallied behind Kaur, demanding justice and expressing discontent over her suspension. The “Insaaf March” aims to bring attention to her plight and to call for a fair investigation into the incident.
The involvement of prominent farmer unions in the march underscores the widespread support for Kaur within various communities. The unions have urged participants to maintain peace and order during the march while making their voices heard.
The situation remains tense as authorities prepare for the march, with security measures likely to be heightened around the protest route and the SSP’s office. The incident has sparked a debate on the treatment of security personnel and the accountability of public figures.
The outcome of the march and the response from the authorities will be closely watched, as it has the potential to influence future actions and policies regarding security personnel and their interactions with public figures.
