He said that people in power, like legislators, were open to hearing how destination resorts could bring jobs to Texas – maybe even up to tens of thousands! They were happy to hear this.

Senator Carol Alvarado from Houston wants to change the law. She wants to make it legal for people to bet on sports. She also wants four special resorts in Dallas and Houston. These resorts will cost at least $2 billion and people need a special license from a new Texas Gaming Commission.
Alvarado said that the Mexican-American caucus has not decided if they want gambling to increase or stay the same. The Sands company has been running casinos in Las Vegas since the 1960s, but now they are also thinking about opening casinos in Asia. Money did not influence their decision.
With the aim of regaining its status as a major force in the U.S. casino-resort industry, The Sands has shifted their sights to Texas; an untapped market with vast potential for growth and profit. Millions have already been invested into this goal, yet Texas isn’t the only area on their radar.
