King Charles III was hospitalised on Thursday after experiencing temporary side effects from his ongoing cancer treatment. Buckingham Palace released a statement confirming that His Majesty required a short period of observation and has now returned to Clarence House.

Buckingham Palace Issues Statement

A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace told The Sun, “Following scheduled and ongoing medical treatment for cancer this morning, The King experienced temporary side effects that required a short period of observation in hospital. His Majesty’s afternoon engagements were therefore postponed.”

Upcoming Engagements Postponed

The spokesperson further mentioned that King Charles was scheduled to receive Credentials from the Ambassadors of three different nations on Thursday afternoon. He was also expected to undertake four public engagements in Birmingham on Friday. However, these engagements have now been postponed on medical advice.

King Charles’ Cancer Diagnosis

King Charles III was diagnosed with cancer in February 2024 following a procedure for benign prostate enlargement. Buckingham Palace had issued a statement at the time, stating, “During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.”

Current Health Status

According to The Sun, the monarch was taken by car to The London Clinic, not via an emergency vehicle, indicating that the situation was under control. The outlet reported that King Charles’ treatment is progressing in the right direction, and he hopes to reschedule the missed engagements soon.
