A Saudi brand has taken luxury to a new level. The outfit dubbed the “Dubai Dress”, crafted from 24-carat gold and valued at approximately ₹9.65 crore, has officially set a new world record for the heaviest gold dress in the world.
Dubai Dress: Lavish Statement of Craftsmanship
The dress weighs more than 10 kilograms (approximately 22 pounds) and comes with a complete set of accessories — a golden crown, earrings, a necklace that by itself weighs almost 9 kg, and a waist ornament called “Hiyar”.
Decorated with coloured precious stones, the piece shines not only as a garment but also as an ultra-luxury art form. The design draws heavily from traditional Emirati culture, featuring patterns, carvings and motifs that reflect the heritage and history of the UAE.
Dubai Dress: Where & How It Was Unveiled?
The dress was unveiled at the 56th Middle East Watch and Jewellery Show in Sharjah, one of the region’s major jewellery events. At the show, more than 500 exhibitors and about 1,800 designers and artisans were present. The dress was officially recognised by the Guinness World Records.
“This work reflects the UAE’s ambition to achieve global leadership and highlights Dubai’s position as the premier destination for gold and jewellery enthusiasts, while embodying the signature and unique creativity of Emirati craftsmen,” said Mohsen Al Dhaibani, Deputy Manager of Al Romaizan Gold.
Dubai Dress: Heritage Meets Haute-Couture
While the dress may first appear to be a spectacle of wealth, it also signals a blending of traditional craftsmanship with haute couture. The piece doesn’t just flaunt gold weight and value—it celebrates Emirati cultural symbols, merging them with modern luxury.
This suggests the Middle East’s jewellery and fashion industry is evolving: not purely about extravagance, but about cultural storytelling through precious materials.
Dubai Dress: Why It Matters?
The fact that a gold dress like this can be created shows the technical mastery of goldsmiths in the region. It positions the UAE and Gulf jewellery industry as leaders in luxury innovation, not just raw gold trading. It may influence future fashion-and-art collaborations where precious metals become wearable heritage pieces.
Redefining Luxury Fashion
The “Dubai Dress” is far more than the heaviest gold dress ever made. It is a bold statement about luxury, craftsmanship and cultural identity. As gold jewellery continues to be a major economic and cultural force in the Gulf, this dress stands as a symbol of how traditions and modern showmanship can combine in stunning ways.
