Rahul Gandhi Shares Video Of Meeting With NEET Students, Slams PM Over Exam Irregularities

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi lambasted Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his silence regarding alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024 examinations. Gandhi released a video on Friday, showcasing his interaction with NEET-UG aspirants, where he pledged support from the INDIA bloc.

“Thousands of NEET exam candidates and their families are enduring the scorching heat on the streets, yet Narendra Modi remains silent,” Gandhi wrote in a post on social media in Hindi. “I assure them that INDIA stands with you in this struggle, from the streets to the parliament.”

The controversy surrounding NEET-UG has intensified following allegations of question paper leaks and other irregularities, prompting protests across various cities and legal petitions in high courts and the Supreme Court. The exam, which took place on May 5 across 4,750 centres with approximately 24 lakh candidates, saw its results announced earlier than expected on June 4 due to expedited evaluation.

Opposition parties have demanded an inquiry supervised by a sitting Supreme Court judge, with calls for the removal of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and dissolution of the National Testing Agency (NTA). Responding to the uproar, Pradhan announced the formation of a high-level committee to probe NTA’s operations.

“The committee will investigate multiple issues concerning NTA to enhance its structure, operational efficiency, examination process, transparency, and data security protocols,” Pradhan stated during a press conference. “Our commitment is towards ensuring a flawless examination system.”

The developments come amid ongoing scrutiny and pressure on the government to address the grievances of NEET-UG candidates and ensure transparency in future examinations.

The situation remains fluid as stakeholders await further updates and actions from the authorities regarding the conduct of NEET-UG and the functioning of NTA.
