In a disturbing incident at a private hospital in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, a doctor was reportedly assaulted after asking the family members of a patient to remove their slippers before entering the emergency room. The event occurred on Saturday when the accused arrived for the treatment of a woman with a head injury.
Police have since arrested the three individuals involved in the attack.
CCTV footage from inside the emergency room shows several men standing beside the woman on the bed. Moments later, Dr. Jaideepsinh Gohil enters and requests that they take off their footwear. This request escalates into a heated exchange, culminating in the men physically attacking the doctor. Despite the presence of nursing staff and the woman in the bed attempting to intervene, the assault continued, resulting in damage to medical supplies and equipment in the room.
The arrested individuals—Hiren Dangar, Bhavdeep Dangar, and Kaushik Kuvadiya—have been charged under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 115(2) (acting with the intention to cause harm), Section 352 (intentional insult to provoke a breach of peace), and Section 351(3) (criminal intimidation).
This attack occurs against the backdrop of national outrage following the recent rape and murder of a resident doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.
