Deputy Commissioner inaugurates infrastructure at govt school

Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain, along with SSP Dr. Sandeep Garg, inaugurated infrastructure upgrades at Government Middle School Bhagwanpur (Bhagwas) in Derabassi during an evening event, marking the initiation of a novel initiative under CSR activities.

Commending the Industry Associations of Derabassi for collaborating with the District Administration to address the infrastructure needs of educational institutions, she emphasised the potential impact of industries adopting nearby government institutions through corporate social responsibility programs.

Highlighting the infrastructure improvements at Government Middle School, Bhagwanpur, funded by various industries under CSR activities, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain mentioned the construction of three rooms, the installation of five touch Penal LEDs to transform classrooms into smart classrooms, and the tiling of the assembly ground. She expressed hope that these initiatives would inspire others to contribute to different institutions as well.

Specifically acknowledging PCCPL and Usha Yarns for contributing Rs 15 lakh for building two rooms, Kansal Industries for providing Rs 3.5 lakh for the third room, Jai Parwati for installing five touch panel LEDs at Rs 5 lakh, and Bhagwati Steels for allocating Rs 3.5 lakh for tiling works in the assembly ground, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain outlined the positive impact on the school’s infrastructure.

Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain shared her aspiration for the school to achieve the status of ‘School of Happiness’ under the Punjab Government’s program. This would involve a grant of Rs 40 lakh to add more classrooms, office space, a lab, an open gym, and the introduction of meditation classes. She emphasized the holistic approach of the ‘School of Happiness,’ focusing on providing quality education and enhancing students’ overall well-being.

Highlighting the Punjab Government’s commitment to strengthening education and health institutions in the public sector, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain mentioned the introduction of Schools of Eminence to elevate government school children’s competitiveness with private schools.

Assuring Industry Associations’ representatives of a conducive environment for their plants’ smooth operation, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain addressed their concerns. She informed them that the long-pending repair demands for two main roads, from Derabasai to Barwala and in front of Chatha Foods in Lalru, have been approved by the Punjab Chief Minister. Work on the Barwala Road has commenced, and the other road will start soon after completing all formalities by MC Lalru.

Additionally, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain assured the resolution of sewer and phirni road issues for the villagers. SSP Dr. Sandeep Garg, addressing the industry association, pledged the District Police’s support in addressing any difficulties faced by industries, including transportation monopolies, gangster-related concerns, or other law and order issues. He urged cooperation from industries and the public in reporting drug trafficking and other law and order-related problems.

Other officials present at the occasion included SDM Derabasai Himanshu Gupta, ASP Derabassi Dr. Darpan Ahluwalia, representatives of the industries, School Head Master Kuljinder Singh, Village Sarpanch Karamjit Kaur, and School Management Committee members Ranjit Singh Rana, Sukhwinder Singh, and Sewak Singh.
