Ananya Narang, the founder and CEO of Entourage, recently shared a job application that left her both annoyed and amused due to its glaring mistakes made by using ChatGPT. The Delhi-based entrepreneur posted a screenshot on X, showcasing a candidate’s cover letter that was clearly created using a generic template. The applicant failed to replace placeholders with their own relevant skills and experiences, making the submission a comical oversight.
In the screenshot, the candidate wrote, “I’m proficient in [mention your key skills, e.g., graphic design, social media strategy, research], and I’m passionate about [explain briefly how you can add value, e.g., creating engaging content, analyzing trends, supporting strategic initiatives]. My previous experience includes [briefly highlight relevant experience or projects].” This lack of personalization stood out to Narang, who commented, “Just received yet another job application. No wonder we have so much unemployment today.”

Narang speculated that the applicant might have used ChatGPT to generate the cover letter, submitting it without proper proofreading. Ironically, the candidate had applied for a content-related role at Entourage, a company that specializes in content creation for personal branding, newsletters, and social media.
In light of the situation, Narang even crafted a potential response to the applicant: “Thank you for your interest in the [Job Title] position at [Company Name]. After reviewing your application, it appears that your submission was an unedited message generated by an AI tool, such as ChatGPT.”
Narang’s post resonated with many users, who shared their amusement and offered similar suggestions for responses. One user humorously remarked, “Artificial intelligence and human stupidity.” Another quipped, “Thanks for using ChatGPT. Please do not reply.” The incident highlights a growing trend in the job market where reliance on AI tools has led to a rise in careless applications, prompting discussions about the importance of personal touch in job applications.
