Dalai Lama, a well-respected spiritual figure from Tibet, has apologised following criticism over a video showing him kissing a young kid. He apologised for any harm that might have been caused by his behaviour to the boy, his parents, and his global fan base

A viral video of Dalai Lama inviting a young boy to “suck his tongue” after kissing him on the lips has sparked a huge internet uproar with many criticising the behaviour as “disgusting.”

His Grace expresses regret for any harm his words may have caused to the kid, his family, and his numerous friends around the globe. Even in front of the public and cameras, his Holiness enjoys innocently and jokingly making fun of new acquaintances. He regrets on what have happened.

The video evoked angry reactions from Twitter users. Sharing the video, Twitter user Joost Broekers wrote, “So the Dalai Lama is kissing an Indian boy at a Buddhist event and even tries to touch his tongue. He actually says “suck my tongue”. Now why would he do that?”

Furious netizens have pointed out this video of the incident as ‘disturbing’, while some even said it is an ‘abuse’. One user wrote, “Very disturbing!!! How those adults could let this happening to a kid!!!” Another commented, “That’s disgusting”.

Many people have described the behaviour as “creepy,” “disgusting,” and “repulsive.” Users also discussed the disturbing actions of other individuals shown in the video, who appeared unconcerned by the situation.

“What am I seeing? Is this Dalai Lama? Needs to be arrested for paedophilia. Disgusting,” tweeted Jas Oberoi. “This is unbecoming and no one should justify this ill-conduct of @DalaiLama,” wrote another Twitter user Deepika Pushkar Nath.

The Buddhist monk’s official Twitter account expressed sadness for the hurt his statements caused and apologised to the young boy in the popular video, his family, and friends all over the world. He tends to communicate with others in a playful and innocent manner.

The Dalai Lama had earlier courted controversy in 2019 for saying that if his successor were to be a woman, she should be “more attractive”. He had later apologised for the statement.
