To mark the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, the Indian Army’s D5 Motorcycle Expedition embarked on a significant journey from Dinjan (Assam), Dwarka (Gujarat), and Dhanushkodi (Tamil Nadu) on June 12, 2024. The expedition teams have reached out to War Heroes and Veer Naris while navigating diverse and challenging routes en route to the Kargil War Memorial in Dras.

The team that began its journey from New Delhi arrived in Leh on July 5, 2024, passing through Chandimandir, Manali, Sarchu, Nyoma, and Tangtse. On July 7, 2024, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, flagged off the team from the Hall of Fame in Leh for the final leg of the expedition, which will culminate at the Kargil War Memorial in Dras. This journey is not merely a ride but a homage to the valour and sacrifice of the soldiers who defended the nation during the Kargil War.

As part of the event, a felicitation program was organized at the Hall of Fame in Leh, honoring the contributions of Veer Naris and War Heroes. The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, in the presence of General Hitesh Bhalla, SC**, SM, VSM, GOC Fire and Fury Corps, appreciated the resilience and dedication of the Veer Naris, acknowledging their role in fostering a supportive and empathetic society, embodying courage and perseverance amidst hardships.
