Rahul Gandhi, Congress MP from India who is in Ladakh, spoke with Army veterans on Monday in the main market. Those thronging the streets to see the Wayanad MP could see Rahul Gandhi waving at them.
Rahul is in Ladakh for the first time since Jammu and Kashmir was divided into Ladakh and J-K, two Union Territories. The former leader of Congress spoke with nearby Army Veterans as well.
The interaction with Army veterans came days after, the Congress leader hit out at the Centre, saying that its claim that not an inch of Indian land was taken by China’s People Liberation Army (PLA) troops “is not true”.
The Congress MP claimed the locals, too, contend that Indian territory was intruded upon and taken by the Chinese troops, adding that it was a matter of concern.
He also paid tribute to his father and former Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi, on his 79th birth anniversary from the banks of Pangong Lake in Ladakh on Sunday morning.
Rahul Gandhi rode his bicycle to Pangong Lake in Ladakh earlier on Saturday. On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi began his two-day visit to the Union Territory in Leh. Later, he made the decision to extend his trip until August 25. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been pitted against Congress and the National Conference in a pre-election alliance for the Kargil council elections scheduled for September 10. The Congress MP made two trips to Jammu and Srinagar earlier this year, but he skipped Ladakh.
