The state is experiencing an intensified cold spell, with Mount Abu recording a chilling -1 degree Celsius after several consecutive days. Cold winds and dense fog have created a biting cold atmosphere throughout the day and night in various cities.
On Saturday, Mount Abu witnessed a temperature of -1 degree Celsius, prompting the weather department to issue a yellow alert for a cold day on Sunday in nine districts, including Alwar, Bharatpur, Bundi, Karauli, Kota, Tonk, Churu, Hanumangarh, and Ganganagar.
Northern districts, including Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Sikar, Jhunjhunu, and Churu, experienced fog on Sunday morning, accompanied by cold winds that heightened the chill. Fatehpur in Sikar recorded a minimum temperature of 7 degrees Celsius on Sunday.
Ganganagar also faced light fog and cold winds on Sunday morning, with the absence of sunlight keeping the maximum temperature below 20 degrees Celsius for over four days. Saturday’s daytime temperature in Ganganagar was 13.9 degrees Celsius, 7 degrees Celsius below normal.
Hanumangarh witnessed intensified cold during the day, with Saturday marking the coldest day in Rajasthan as the maximum temperature reached only 11.9 degrees Celsius. The district has not seen temperatures above 20 degrees Celsius for the past five days.
In the capital city, Jaipur, below-normal temperatures persist during both day and night, resulting in intense cold. On Saturday, Jaipur’s minimum temperature dipped below 9.5 degrees Celsius. The day saw light clouds and mist, and as evening approached, cold winds added to the chill. The weather department issued a warning for cold winds in Jaipur for the upcoming days. The state anticipates dense fog for the next 3-4 days, with a possibility of very dense fog (visibility less than 200 meters) in the northern parts within the next 48 hours. The maximum temperature is expected to drop by 3-6 degrees Celsius, and some northern areas may experience a cold day.
