Relations of senior Congress leaders seemed to be improving ahead of Rajasthan Legislative Assembly polls. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and former Deputy CM Sachin Pilot are seen supporting each other. CM Gehlot shared a video featuring Sachin Pilot on his official social media handle X. In this video, Pilot was seen saying that he has addressed hundreds of public meetings and urged them to vote for Congress, but was unable to reach many areas. Pilot appealed that through this video message, “I am appealing to all my people of the state to vote for Congress and change the tradition of alternative party government in Rajasthan.”
This move of Ashok Gehlot also started creating a stir in the political corridors and raises a question of whether the Congress party has really mended the broken relations or if this is just a show to gather the voters’ support. In addition to this, if Congress wins in Rajasthan, can Pilot get a bigger responsibility?
There is a strong undercurrent in favour of the Congress in Rajasthan: CM Gehlot
On Friday, CM Ashok Gehlot expressed his confidence in his party winning the assembly elections and breaking the myth of changing government every five years.
A day before Rajasthan polls for the Assembly in a single phase, CM Gehlot said, “There is a strong undercurrent in favour of the Congress in Rajasthan. I have sensed as much while campaigning across the state. There is a pro-incumbency wave. Villages that previously voted in favour of the BJP are now turning to the Congress after deriving the benefits of our schemes and policies. I believe that this undercurrent and pro-incumbency will ensure the victory of many of our candidates, who many felt might not win. If this undercurrent works in our favour, we will form the government.”
CM Gehlot also targeted PM Modi and Union Minister Amit Shah
Taking a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, he said, “Two Gujaratis are touring Rajasthan, telling people who to vote and how. I am a son of the soil, a Rajasthani. I will tell my fellow Rajasthanis to vote for me.”
“When I went to campaign for the Gujarat Assembly polls, Prime Minister Modi had said a Marwari had come to seek votes. The PM as well as the BJP tugged at voters’ sentiments and whipped up regional pride to pull votes in their favour. Hence, I, too, will ask voters to give us the mandate like PM Modi did in Gujarat,” CM Gehlot added.
He also urged the people to turn out in big numbers on polling day.
“Voting is the democratic right of every citizen and they must exercise it. Opposition leaders, who come here from Delhi when elections are around the corner, only end up provoking people. The BJP has neither brought up nor been critical of our campaign promises. They could have questioned our guarantees but, instead, tried to instigate the people,” Gehlot added.
Adopted ‘Magic Hug’ profile on social media
The Chief Minister also changed his profile photo. With this step, he has also attracted the attention of the youth in the state. In this photo, Gehlot is seen giving Rajasthan a hug. Gehlot’s immense love for Rajasthan is visible in the new picture. This is the reason why his picture captioned, “Dil Hai Rajasthani” is going viral on social media.
Ahead of the assembly elections, Gehlot and Pilot have presented a united face. These days, both of them also addressed many public meetings together. It remains to be seen whether this united front that Congress is putting on will continue even after the elections are over.
