China is all set to host the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin from August 31 to September 1. More than 20 leaders from different countries are expected to attend the high-level meeting.
Liu Bin, the Foreign Minister of China, confirmed that the summit will include Russian President Vladimir Putin, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and other global leaders. UN Secretary General António Guterres and heads of nine international organizations will also participate in the summit.

Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to announce new initiatives to strengthen the SCO during the event. The leaders will also sign and release the Tianjin Declaration, as reported by Reuters.

China on PM Modi’s Visit
Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Deihong noted that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to China will be significant for both the SCO and the bilateral relationships between the two countries.
He said, “The visit of Prime Minister Modi to China will be a very important event not only for the SCO but for the bilateral relationship between the two countries. A working group from China and India are preparing to make this visit a successful one. We attach great importance to this visit.”

He further referred to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s visit to India to hold discussions with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
“This time, during the Chinese FM visit to India, he had a very important talk with Mr Doval on the boundary issue. They reached a consensus on 10 points. Two groups will be set up by our two sides over the border issue,” Xu quoted.
