Pakistan: 7 dead after boat capsizes near Okara

According to information cited by ARY News, seven people—including women and children—died after a boat capsized in Pakistan’s River Sutlej close to Thali Jamal Okara.

According to accounts, the boat capsized because of its overload. On the boat, there were over 50 persons.

While several passengers were able to save themselves, locals in the neighbourhood pulled the bodies of seven victims from the river.
Mohsin Naqvi, the interim chief minister of Punjab, gave the relevant authorities orders to expedite the rescue effort and to keep an eye on it.
According to ARY News, a boat capsized earlier in Kalankar Lake near Dhoro Naro, Umerkot district, killing at least six people.

Six people drowned as the boat capsized while bringing ten people to the Sehar Faquir Shrine to pay respects. When police and rescue personnel arrived, they pulled three children’s bodies from the water. According to sources, the rescue effort in the region has ended due to nightfall and will resume in the morning to look for three missing people.
