In Chhattisgarh, paddy procurement began today amid the election season. Here, paddy politics has also heated up on the political front. Congress National General Secretary Jairam Ramesh addressed a press conference at the state Congress headquarters today and also expressed his views on paddy procurement.
As soon as Jairam’s press conference ended, BJP leaders started thanking him. Former Chief Minister of the state Dr. Raman Singh is also among those who thanked the Congress General Secretary. BJP leaders argued that the congress leaders are themselves saying what the BJP has been alleging for a long time about the problem of MSP in Chattisgarh. Responding to the statement of Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, Dr Raman Singh said that his leaders are exposing the lies of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh admitted that more than 80 per cent of the money is given to the farmers by the Central Government. Giving an example, he said that if the MSP of the Centre is Rs 2,200, then the Congress government of the state is giving only the remaining amount. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel also said the state government gives the entire money for the purchase of paddy to the farmers of Chhattisgarh and the central government has no contribution to it. In such a situation, this statement of Jairam Ramesh has exposed the Congress government of the state. The former CM said that for the last 5 years, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has been lying to the farmers by taking credit for the work of the central government and trying to deceive them. But just before the elections, the truth came out from the mouth of Congress in front of the farmers. State Congress communication department chairman Sushil Anand Shukla said, “The Centre’s contribution to paddy procurement is only that it declares the support price of paddy like other crops. The procurement is done by the state government. Modi government has no contribution to paddy procurement. The state government purchases paddy through Markfed by taking loans from various banks. Bhupesh government is giving Rs 2,640 to farmers in Chhattisgarh, the highest price not only in the country but in the world. BJP leaders are indulging in politics to get forced applause to spread confusion.”
