Chandigarh’s waste management to expand with 17 new collection points

The Finance and Contract Committee of the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh approved the construction of 17 additional C&D waste collection points at various locations in Chandigarh, totaling Rs. 40.97 lakhs.

The F&CC meeting, chaired by Mayor Sh. Anup Gupta and attended by committee members Sh. Gurpreet Singh, Smt. Harpreet Kaur Babla, Ms. Neha, and other senior MCC officers, discussed various important agenda items and granted approval for the following:

1. Extension of the contract for the operation and maintenance of Gaushalas in Maloya and Sector 45, Chandigarh, from 01.11.2023 to 31.03.2024, estimated at Rs. 35.00 lakhs.
2. Providing and laying of 600mm (24”) i/d & 450mm (18”) i/d RCC Pipeline along with the construction of New Machine Holes and Road Gullies Near Plot No. 29 MW Industrial area phase-I, Chandigarh, for the smooth functioning of the Storm Water drainage system at an estimated cost of Rs. 48.01 lakhs.
3. Providing and laying of 300mm (12”) i/d Sewer Pipeline & construction of Machine holes for Strengthening of Sewerage system Near #976 to Gurudwara Sahib, Ramdarbar Colony, Ph-II, Chandigarh, at an estimated cost of Rs. 26.73 lakhs.
4. Construction of a Shed, laying cement concrete flooring, and a store for the casting unit at C&D Waste Processing Plant, Industrial area Ph-I, Chandigarh, costing Rs. 17.60 lakhs.
5. Upgradation of the front of Market at Sector 29 C&D, Chandigarh, with an estimated cost of Rs. 25.90 lakhs.
6. Providing and fixing concertina coil fencing on the boundary wall of Community Centre Sunder Nagar (Mauli Jagran Part-2), Chandigarh, at an estimated cost of Rs. 03.79 lakhs.
7. Providing and fixing of Hut, Benches in Green Belt Part-II, Nagla Mohalla Manimajra Chandigarh, at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.53 lakhs.
8. Acceptance of the reserved price for 03 nos. Old condemned vehicles of Fire & Rescue Service of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh.
9. Widening and Construction of Median at the main entry of Parking of Sector 44-D Market, Chandigarh, with an estimated cost of Rs. 2.27 lakhs.
10. Providing & fixing of keep left board, cat-eyes & median marker on V-4 & V-5 road for the improvement of road safety in Sector 44 & 51, Chandigarh, at an estimated cost of Rs. 5.58 lakhs.
