Chandigarh: Police Resolves PGIMER Injection Case

The police successfully resolved a sensitive case related to PGIMER injection, in which an unknown woman intended to fatally inject a patient with an unknown substance during treatment. The police apprehended four individuals posing as fake staff members, including Jaspreet Kaur, Jasmeet Singh, Buta Singh, and Mandeep Singh, residents of Patiala-Sangrur, Punjab. Jaspreet Kaur, working as a caretaker in Patiala, was identified as the woman responsible for administering the injection. The patient’s brother had sent her, lured by money.
According to information provided by Kamardip Kaur, SSP/UT Chandigarh, the victim was admitted to the emergency ICU on November 6 and was transferred to the gynecology ward on November 13, 2023, at Gyanani Ward, Nehru Hospital, PGIMER, Chandigarh. On November 15, around 11:05 AM, an unknown woman approached the victim and her brother, stating that Harmit Kaur needed an injection and proceeded to administer an unknown substance. When questioned about the injection and the names of the women, she left without revealing her name. Subsequently, the victim’s brother became suspicious as the condition of his sister deteriorated. He suspects that the unknown woman intentionally injected his sister to cause harm. The complainant provided a photo of the suspicious woman taken at that time.
Gurumukh Singh, ACP/Ops, and Inspector Malkiat Singh SHO Police Station 11, successfully apprehended Jaspreet Kaur, the accused who administered the injection. During interrogation, she confessed that she had been sent by Jasmeet Singh (victim’s brother), Mandeep Singh, and Buta Singh to administer the injection to the victim. It was revealed during questioning that the victim’s family was unhappy because she had married Gurvinder Singh without the family’s consent. The victim’s brother had been consistently threatening the victim and her husband, indicating his intention to cause harm if an opportunity arose. Jaspreet Kaur was presented in court, and a two-day police custody remand was obtained. The remaining suspects will be presented in court tomorrow.
