The Public Relations Officer (PIO) and the investigation staff of Chandigarh Police arrested a PIO along with seven absconding criminals. The accused PIO was known for terrorizing his area, and more than 20 cases were registered against him in various police stations in Chandigarh. The arrested criminal, Raju Khan alias Mohammad Irfan alias Mohammad Jahur, residing in EWS Colony, Maloya, Chandigarh, was apprehended in connection with a snatching case in Maloya.
The PIO was implicated in serious crimes, including attempted murder, dacoity, mobile theft, snatching, robbery, trespassing, vehicle theft, and a case of rape, totaling 12 heinous offenses. The accused PIO was notorious in his locality, and people were hesitant to provide information about him. The police team apprehended the accused by conducting raids at suspected locations. The arrested criminal was presented in court and remanded to judicial custody.
In another case, a suspect named Gurtej Singh, resident of Dhanora village, Mohali, was arrested in Rohtak by the PGII under the pretext of providing a job and committing fraud of 2 lakhs. The accused demanded money for securing a job but disappeared later, and the case was registered under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act. He was presented in court, and judicial custody was ordered.
Similarly, individuals named Rakesh Kumar from Saraswati Colony, Sabalpur, Yamunanagar, Hariana; Amaninder Singh from Masser Mobile Hub, Ram Leela Ground, near Dera Bassi Bus Stand, Dera Bassi; Shiv Kumar from Raypur village, Mohali; and Hardeep Singh Sohndi from Sector 8, Panchkula, Haryana, were arrested in cases registered under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act. All these accused were declared as PIOs by the Chandigarh court, and the absconding individuals were brought before the court for legal proceedings.
