In a commendable achievement, Chandigarh Police has been honored with two prestigious awards for its outstanding performance in the implementation of Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & System (CCTNS) and Inter Operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS). The accolades were presented during the 5th Conference on good practices of CCTNS/ICJS 2023, organized by the National Crime Record Bureau under the Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi.

Chandigarh Police secured the 1st position among the Union Territories of India for its exemplary implementation of CCTNS. Additionally, the department claimed the 2nd position in the Police Pillars category among States/UTs for its noteworthy implementation of ICJS. The awards were received by Sh. P. Abhinamdan, Deputy Superintendent of Police, on behalf of Praveer Kumar Ranjan IPS, Director General of Police, Chandigarh, and Kanwardeep Kaur IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Chandigarh, who served as the Nodal Officer for CCTNS & ICJS during the conference.

Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & System (CCTNS) is a Mission Mode Project initiated under the National e-Governance Plan of the Government of India. The project is designed to establish a comprehensive and integrated system for the investigation and detection of crimes and criminals. Meanwhile, Inter Operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS), implemented under the Ministry of Home Affairs, aims to facilitate seamless data and information transfer among different pillars of the Criminal Justice System. These pillars include courts, police, jails, and forensic science laboratories, all integrated onto a single platform.

The recognition at the national level underscores Chandigarh Police’s commitment to leveraging technology for effective crime management and strengthening the overall criminal justice system.

The awards not only highlight their dedication to best practices but also position Chandigarh Police as a leader in the implementation of cutting-edge solutions for crime prevention and detection.
