Amid the disturbing murder case of Suchana Seth’s four-year-old son in Goa, court documents accessed by NDTV reveal a tumultuous legal history, with Ms. Seth previously filing domestic violence charges against her husband, PR Venkat Raman, in August. The shocking case, characterized by a bitter divorce battle, unfolded further as it was disclosed that Ms. Seth had sought Rs 2.5 lakh per month in alimony, alleging annual earnings of over Rs 1 crore by her husband.

The court documents illustrate that Ms. Seth submitted copies of WhatsApp messages, pictures, and medical records to support her claims of domestic abuse against Mr. Raman. In response, he denied the charges, leading to the issuance of a restraining order against him, preventing any contact with Ms. Seth and their child.

Despite the restraining order, Mr. Raman was granted weekly visitation rights, allowing him to see the child every Sunday. This arrangement reportedly upset Ms. Seth, and investigators are exploring whether this court order played a role in the tragic incident that unfolded in Goa.

The last hearing for the domestic violence case occurred on December 12, more than three weeks before the fatal incident in a Candolim service apartment. The court had adjourned the matter to January 29, marking a significant legal development before the disturbing events took place.

Suchana Seth, the CEO accused of murdering her son, has been charged with a “premeditated” crime based on the discovery of empty cough syrup bottles at the crime scene. The post-mortem report suggested that the child may have been smothered.

The marital discord between Ms. Seth and Mr. Raman came to light, revealing that they were married in November 2010, and their son was born in August 2019. Ms. Seth informed the court that she had been living separately from her husband since March 2021.

The tragedy deepened as it was revealed that Ms. Seth, possibly attempting suicide after the alleged murder, was found with slashed wrists. The legal battle surrounding the divorce and domestic violence charges now adds a complex layer to the investigation, shedding light on the strained relationships and tumultuous history between the accused CEO and her estranged husband.
