At the latest board meeting, Neville Tata, the son of Tata Trusts chairperson Noel Tata, along with Bhaskar Bhat is a long-serving executive was named a trustee of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust.
The move strengthens not only the position of Noel Tata in the governance of the group but also marks the formal entry of a younger Tata into the trust’s core decision-making body.
Who Is Neville Tata
At 32, Neville Tata represents the next generation of leadership within the Tata ecosystem. A graduate of Bayes Business School in London, he began his career at Trent in 2016 and currently leads Zudio, the fast-growing value fashion arm of Trent.
His appointment to the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust adds to his growing portfolio he already serves on the boards of the JRD Tata Trust, Tata Social Welfare Trust and RD Tata Trust. According to industry insiders, this development is a clear step in his steady rise within the philanthropic and business landscape of the group.

Who Is Bhaskar Bhat
Assisting him in the new role is Bhaskar Bhat, a long-time Tata veteran credited with effecting transformative leadership at Titan Company. Having done his schooling at IIT Madras and IIM Ahmedabad, Bhat joined Tata Watch Project early in his career, going on to manage Titan as Managing Director from 2002 to 2019.
During his leadership, Titan expanded into jewellery, eyewear and accessories increasing its market value to roughly USD 13 billion. His experience at the helm will bring much-needed continuity and stability to the operations of the trust.
New Governance Under Maharashtra Rules
The tenure of the trustee Venu Srinivasan was also changed from lifetime to three years as per the new rule brought into effect by the Maharashtra government, regarding the number of lifetime trustees in major charitable trusts.
