Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, the Special Director General (SDG) of the Border Security Forces’ Western Command, wrapped up a pivotal five-day visit to Kashmir aimed at evaluating the security landscape and operational readiness of the force along the Line of Control (LoC), according to officials on Saturday.
Undertaken from March 18 to 22, the significant visit by the SDG of the Western Command Chandigarh sought to comprehensively assess the security situation and operational preparedness along the LoC, reaffirming the steadfast commitment of the BSF to safeguard India’s borders.
The visit commenced with a comprehensive briefing by Inspector General, BSF, Kashmir Frontier, Ashok Yadav, providing insights into the security dynamics on the LoC and hinterland, as reported by BSF officials.
The itinerary included aerial reconnaissance missions and on-ground visits to forward-defended localities, as well as Sector Headquarters (SHQ) BSF in Kupwara and Srinagar. At each juncture, the SDG interacted closely with local BSF Commanders and troops, gaining invaluable firsthand insights into the prevailing security scenario and operational readiness along the LoC.
Khurania also held discussions with General Officer Commanding (GoC) 15 Corps, Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, emphasizing the collaborative efforts between the BSF and the Army in achieving peace, prosperity, and development in Kashmir, according to a BSF spokesman.
Furthermore, Khurania visited the Composite Hospital and STC BSF, Kashmir, where he reviewed the ongoing physical and professional skill training of recruits. He commended the professionalism and expertise of the training team, recognizing their pivotal role in shaping the future of BSF personnel.
Interacting with senior officers, subordinate officers, and soldiers through a ‘Prahari Sammelan’, the Special DG BSF lauded the exemplary professionalism demonstrated by the BSF personnel. He urged them to maintain heightened vigilance to thwart any attempts aimed at disrupting peace and harmony in Kashmir.
