Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has issued a second summons to Ashish Hemrajani, CEO of Big Tree Entertainment, the parent company of BookMyShow, and the company’s technical head. They are being investigated for alleged black marketing of Coldplay concert tickets. Hemrajani and the technical head failed to appear for the initial summons on September 27 and have been asked to present themselves before the investigating officer.
The investigation stems from a complaint by Advocate Amit Vyas, accusing BookMyShow of facilitating the black market resale of Coldplay tickets, originally priced at ₹2,500, for up to ₹3 lakh. Vyas alleges the platform manipulated access, leading to ticket bots and resellers dominating sales. He has sought an FIR against the company for fraud, criminal conspiracy, and breach of trust under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
Shiv Sena spokesperson Anand Dubey also raised concerns in a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, calling for an investigation into the alleged nexus behind the black marketing of concert tickets. Fans were frustrated when tickets sold out in minutes, but were later found on unofficial channels at exorbitant prices.
