No Police Misconduct During Allu Arjun’s Arrest: Hyderabad Police

Hyderabad police have clarified the arrest of actor Allu Arjun, which followed a fatal stampede at a Pushpa 2: The Rule screening. The actor was detained but later granted bail. After his arrest, rumors emerged claiming police mistreated him. In response, the Hyderabad police issued a statement to clarify the situation.

Police Explanation on Event Security

The Deputy Commissioner of Police explained that Sandhya Cine Enterprise had requested security for the Pushpa 2 screening. On December 2, the organizers asked for police arrangements on December 4 and 5. However, the police said the organizers only submitted a letter, not meeting with any officers in person. The police clarified, “We receive many such requests but cannot provide security for every event. Despite the lack of personal meetings, we arranged crowd control outside the theatre. The situation was under control until the actor arrived.”

Actor’s Actions Led to Incident

The police explained that Allu Arjun’s actions caused the stampede. When he arrived at the theatre, he stood up through his car’s sunroof and waved to the crowd. This drew a larger crowd towards the theatre. His security team then pushed people aside to make way for the actor. Police had advised his team to return due to the crowd, but they ignored it. Allu Arjun stayed at the theatre for over two hours. The police stated that his actions directly led to the incident, which resulted in the woman’s death and left her son in critical condition.

Misbehaviour Claims Denied

The police also responded to allegations of mistreatment during Allu Arjun’s arrest. They denied any misbehaviour. They said, “When the police arrived at his home, Allu Arjun requested time to change clothes. He went inside, and the police waited outside. There was no force used. He was allowed time to interact with his family and came out voluntarily. He was then escorted to the police vehicle.”

Allu Arjun was arrested on Friday afternoon at his Banjara Hills home in connection with the death at the Sandhya Theatre. A local court placed him in 14-day judicial custody, but the Telangana High Court granted him interim bail later that evening. He spent the night in jail due to a technical issue with the bail order but was released the next morning.
