Actor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Jaya Prada conveyed her heartfelt congratulations to the iconic star. “It is a very delightful moment for us as Mithun Chakraborty is a superstar. He has worked in many languages. It is a matter of happiness for me and the whole industry as he is being honored with such a prestigious award,” Prada shared with the media, emphasizing the significance of his achievements for Indian cinema as a whole.

The announcement of this prestigious honor was made by Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Ashwini Vaishnaw. In his post on X, Vaishnaw praised Chakraborty’s remarkable cinematic journey, calling him an inspiration for future generations of actors and filmmakers. Chakraborty will officially receive the award during the 70th National Film Awards ceremony, scheduled for October 8, 2024, a significant moment in an already illustrious career.
Mithun Chakraborty’s journey in Indian cinema began with his National Film Award-winning debut in Mrigayaa (1976). Since then, his career has been filled with iconic roles in films across various genres, making him a household name not just for his acting prowess but also for his electrifying dance numbers.
