Lyricist and screenwriter Manoj Muntashir vents out his anguish on social media after not receiving credit for composing the song ‘Maaye’ from the forthcoming film Sky Force. On Tuesday, Muntashir made a post on X (previously Twitter), cautioning Jio Studios, Maddock Films, and Saregama Global that in case his writing is not attributed, he could take legal recourse against them.
What Triggered Manoj’s Outburst?
The controversy erupted when Jio Studios published a teaser of the song Maaye sung by B Praak, whose music was given by Tanishk Bagchi. Though the short clip did give credits to the singer and composer, Muntashir’s name did not appear there though the studio had tagged him in the caption. The promotional post described Maaye as an anthem dedicated to India’s brave hearts and announced its release on Republic Day week.
Manoj’s Response
Muntashir reacted strongly, accusing the filmmakers of disrespecting the efforts of lyricists. He tweeted, “This song wasn’t just sung and composed; it was written by someone who poured his blood and sweat into it.”
He further criticized his name not to be included in the credits list, which was a sign of “utter disrespect” towards the writers and craft. Muntashir had warned that in case his name was not mentioned in the next full version release of the song, he will disown it and go legal. Addressing the parties, he said, “If this is not rectified immediately, I will ensure my voice reaches the law of the land. Shame.”
