Boman Irani is coming behind the camera for the first time as a director with The Mehta Boys. It is an emotionally charged drama story.  It aims to carve into the complexity of relationships between fathers and sons. After its well-acclaimed stint at the film festivals, The Mehta Boys is all set to hit Prime Video on 7th February 2025.

Prime Video posted a post that highlights Boman Irani’s directorial debut on Instagram, The Mehta Boys, will premiere as the opening film at the Chicago South Asian Film Festival (CSAFF). The platform shared the update on social media, writing, “Boys played well, indeed. The Mehta Boys premieres as the Opening Film of the Chicago South Asian Film Festival!”

Boman Irani Remarks on Directorial Journey

In return, Irani expressed his feelings in the comments. Reflecting on his career, he genuinely noted, “The only thing I did early in life was getting married… and having kids. The rest took its own sweet time. My directorial debut, The Mehta Boys, took not just a sweet, but an even sweeter amount of time.”

Perplexed bonds and transformation

Its story revolves around a tension-charged father-son relationship.  When the two of them are bounded to spend 48 hours together. However, unexpectedly open up with each other about their lives and learning. It stars Boman Irani as the father and Avinash Tiwary as the son. In the trailer, the character of Avinash invites his aging father to stay in his place for a short duration. The aging father is dissatisfied with these small inconveniences and begins to get uncomfortable.

Their bond gets deeper as they face a chain of fun and heavy arguments. From sleeping patterns to quarrels during a car ride. In the last, there is a moment of helplessness when Boman’s character extends a hesitant handshake as the first step towards coordination.
