Anuja Arrives on Netflix: Release Date and Streaming Details

The Oscar-nominated live-action short film Anuja will be released on Netflix on February 5, 2025. This film, by Adam J. Graves and produced by Suchitra Mattai, is a great story of survival, love, and opportunity against all odds.

Anuja on Netflix: A Story of Hope and Determination

One can only thank, one hopes, when director Adam J. Graves exclaimed, “Suchitra and I are incredibly grateful that Anuja has found a home on Netflix. This story of hope was brought to life through collaboration with many talented and passionate people. We are thrilled that audiences worldwide will finally experience the result of our dedication.”

The Mastermind Behind Anuja

The series is supported by an excellent list of producers, which includes Suchitra Mattai, Guneet Monga Kapoor, Mindy Kaling, Krushan Naik, Aaron Kopp, Devananda Graves, Michael Graves, Ksheetij Saini, and Alexandra Blaney. Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Anita Bhatia are executive producers, while Archana Jain, Susan MacLaury, and Albie Hecht are co-executive producers.

A Story Based on Truth

The story revolves around an exceptional nine-year-old girl named Anuja. She lives with her seventeen-year-old sister, Palak, who toils for a garment factory in the alley. When Anuja’s new teacher finds that the little girl has great talents and needs encouragement. She encourages her to seek admission to one of the high boarding schools in the city, changing their destiny completely.

However, the golden opportunity comes with an emotional price as the sisters have to face difficult choices that put strain on their bond and resilience. The movie concentrates on the real-life struggles of millions of young girls in this world.

Splendid Performance by Sajda Pathan in Anuja

This sincerity has much to do with Anuja’s collaboration with Mira Nair’s Salaam Baalak Trust, a nonprofit for street and working children. The lead actor Sajda Pathan, who, through the Trust, is an alumnus, gives a standout performance that has swept the floors with critics and viewers alike.
Mindy Kaling on Anuja’s Global Release

Producer Mindy Kaling expressed her excitement about Anuja streaming on Netflix, stating, “It is a dream come true to have Anuja on Netflix, where it can be seen by the worldwide audience it deserves. I’m so grateful to Bela Bajaria and Netflix India for recognizing the beauty of this short film.”
