BJP senior leader Tamil Nadu state unit president K. Annamalai the people of Telangana have historic choice in seven days and expressed confidence that they will vote for Telangana.
Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday he said: “Telangana and Tamil Nadu we have similarities. We are facing dynastic rule at both the places and our economy is being controlled by two families in these two states for wrong reasons. Two stark reminders. Debt is going in alarming levels in two states at an unsustainable pace going to take state backwards. Telangana and Tamil Nadu some similarities in debt as well. Tamil Nadu is having Rs. 7.53 lakh crore debt as on today and it was highest in the country. Telangana is having debt of Rs. 4.3 lakh crore. PSU and Corporations the debt is another Rs. 2.10 lakh crore crossing Rs. 6.5 lakh crore for a population of 3.5 crore. In Both these states the money is going to repay debts instead into education and health. These sectors will be worst hit in the next five years. Quality of schools going down in Telangana. Even at Hyderabad the government schools functioning without toilets,” said Annamalai adding that in dynastic rule these are the issues that would be faced.
“This is debt driven growth model. Dynastic politics are trying to master one happening in Tamil Nadu and another in Telangana. Second serious concern is liquor. Tamil Nadu is getting a revenue of Rs. 44,000 crores on liquor, probably the highest in the country, while Telangana is getting nearly Rs. 40,000 crore and it is still growing. In Tamil Nadu 18 to 60 years of the population 19 per cent are addicts to liquor. The same thing might be the case of Telangana. What kind of people we are going to build for the society,” he asked.
“Corruption is an issue in dynastic politics. In Tamil Nadu it’s a major issue. 11 Ministers are facing corruption cases in Court of Law. Once BRS out of Power and BJP comes, then we will be knowing how may will face such cases in Telangana. Now the people of Telangana have to make a choice on November 30th. Growth is not happening and its only illusory. Corruption is sky rocketing. Concept of democracy has flawed in the State. Two three people take decisions on how the state should progress. That is why we are presenting an alternative. I am confident that they will have a wise choice,” he said
“Coming to the claim of Hyderabad being IT Hub, I am wondering how the State which attracted only Rs. 5,000 crore investment can compete with a city like Bangalore which has attracted Rs. 1 lakh crore. If its IT hub, how they failed to release correct results in intermediate examinations resulting in suicides of 25 students and how they failed to address issues in Dharani for several years.
