MPs Diya Kumari of Rajasamand, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore of Jaipur Rural, and Kirori Lal Meena of Rajya Sabha have resigned from their parliamentary positions. However, so far, Baba Balkanath, who won as an MLA from Alwar and Tijara, has not resigned. The suspense has increased due to his not resigning so far. After resigning, all MPs also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP National President JP Nadda.
BJP fielded seven MPs, four of them got the victory
In the assembly elections, the BJP had fielded seven MPs this time. Four of them won, while three had to face defeat. According to the rules, MPs have to resign from their seats within 14 days of winning the election. If they do not do so, their membership may be cancelled.
It is worth mentioning that Article 101(2) of the Constitution states that if an MP contests and wins the Assembly election, then in such a case, a notification must be issued within 14 days of victory, and they have to resign from the house. In the same order, if a legislator wins and becomes an MP after winning the election, then he also has to resign within 14 days.
Diya Kumari won from Vidhyadhar Nagar, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore won from Sawai Madhopur, and Kirodilal Meena won from the Sawai Madhopur assembly constituency. While MP Narendra Kumar from Mandal and MP Bhagirath Chaudhary from Kishangarh had to face defeat in the elections from Sanchore.
Meena also raised a demand to declare the cow as a national animal
During this, Meena also raised a demand in the Rajya Sabha to declare the cow as the national animal before resigning from his parliamentary position. He stated, “The cow is an integral part of Indian culture and is revered. It is the need of the hour to declare the cow as the national animal…We know that when the culture and faith of a country are harmed, the country becomes weaker.”
Meena stated, “Consuming cow meat cannot be anyone’s fundamental right in any way; rather, those who worship the cow have the paramount duty to protect it. People are also economically dependent on cows. Cow protection is not a subject related to any religion. Muslim rulers have also considered the cow an important part of Indian culture. At least five Muslim rulers, including Babar, Humayun, and Akbar, imposed a ban on cow slaughter.”
