Despite securing a majority in Rajasthan, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has not yet sworn in a Chief Minister or ministers, and the government is yet to be formed. In the midst of this, BJP legislators and defeated candidates are striving to project a confident image. As student leaders share videos on social media to bolster their image, BJP leaders are adopting a similar approach. Instances of officials being intimidated are surfacing, suggesting a perception that the BJP government has assumed power. However, these actions are having a negative impact on the party’s image.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) places a strong emphasis on maintaining discipline at all levels, and instances of disciplinary action against leaders engaging in indiscipline are not uncommon. The party aligns with the ideology of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), where adhering to civil language is considered a paramount form of discipline. However, a recent trend has emerged where newly elected leaders, who recently joined the BJP, are not hesitating to issue threats to officials as a means to assert their leadership. This departure from the party’s usual commitment to discipline is raising concerns among observers.
Mahendra Rathore threatening officials over the phone Professor Mahendra Rathore, who contested on a BJP ticket from Sardarpura against the former CM Ashok Gehlot, despite losing by more than 26,000 votes, is now threatening officials of the municipal corporation, PHED, and DISCOM over the phone. A video of him is going viral on social media, where he is talking to MS Charan, Chief Zonal Engineer of Jodhpur DISCOM, over the phone saying, “Remove the Congress cotton from your ears. Save my number. If any worker from Sardarpura calls, answer it. In Congress rule, offices worked to satisfy one community.” Not only that, Rathore also said, “Don’t live in delusion; this is not a transfer threat. So far, the accounts of the money collected will be demanded. Rajdharma will be followed in Sardarpura.” Meanwhile, Rathore called an official of PHED and said, “I will come back next Tuesday. We want to work together for five years. Decide whether you want to stay separate.’
Hawa Mahal MLA also shining on social media
Similarly, Balmukund Acharya, who won from Hawa Mahal on a BJP ticket, is going viral on social media along with winning in the elections. He is also making a video to show off officials and is now seen posting on his Facebook to reach the public and bureaucracy after making the video.
Congress has suffered a big loss due to this same strategy
It should be noted that videos of threatening officials went viral during the previous Congress government ministers.
Although ministers and legislators themselves viral videos to show their strong image. However, it resulted in the wrong message among the public, and the consequence was that the public showed the way out to 17 Congress ministers. Many ministers could win with very few votes.
However, now, discussions about threatening officials by BJP leaders are also going on among the officer class. Officers in the secretariat and many offices were seen discussing this matter on Wednesday. Officials said that they work for the welfare of the people for the government.
They said, ”Our goal is to implement their plans when a government is in power. But, when leaders create controversy in this way, it demoralises officers and employees who work.”
