In a decisive move against drug peddlers, the police in Baramulla have booked Safan Shafi Zargar, a notorious drug smuggler, under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act. The action is part of a concerted effort to eliminate the menace of drugs from society.
Safan Shafi Zargar, identified as the most wanted and notorious drug smuggler, is the son of Mohd Shafi Zargar and a resident of Tawheed Gunj in Baramulla. The police took stringent measures by obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority, leading to the detainment of the accused. Safan Shafi Zargar is now lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal in Jammu.
The accused has a history of involvement in multiple cases related to drug trafficking, particularly in promoting the drug abuse trade by supplying narcotics to local youth in Baramulla town and other areas of the district. Despite facing numerous FIRs, he persisted in his illicit activities, continuing to endanger the lives of local youth.
