A ground-level survey of the Bengaluru South Lok Sabha constituency was conducted by India News to analyse the performance of Tejasvi Surya, the Member of Parliament from Bengaluru South, and gather voters’ feedback about him.
The country’s largest IT hub is Bengaluru, also known as the Silicon Valley or the IT capital of India. Among India’s major cities, it has the highest elevation. Bengaluru entices tourists from around the world with its pleasant weather. The city plays a significant role in South Indian politics, particularly in the Bengaluru South Lok Sabha constituency.
Tejasvi Surya, a young leader from the BJP, currently represents this constituency in the Lok Sabha. In the 2019 general elections, Tejasvi Surya, the youngest BJP candidate, secured a remarkable victory against Congress’ B.K. Hariprasad, with a margin of over two lakh votes.
A lawyer by profession, Surya actively participated in various programs of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad during his college days in Bengaluru. He played a crucial role in the BJP’s campaign during the 2018 Karnataka Assembly elections and successfully organized the Mangalore Chalo rally in 2017.
As a young leader, Tejasvi Surya has carved a niche for himself. Bengaluru South has witnessed 16 elections so far, with Congress winning in the early ones. However, after the Emergency, the Janata Party won thrice consecutively. Since 1991, the BJP has been consistently winning this seat. The late BJP leader Ananth Kumar represented this seat for six consecutive terms.
Bengaluru South is entirely an urban constituency, known for its rapid development. The pace of development is uniform across all assembly constituencies, making it a showcase for progress. The constituency has approximately 20 lakh voters. Ananth Kumar’s legacy is said to have a significant influence on the voters, and during elections, caste cards hold no sway here.
The development in Bengaluru South is not only due to the efforts of the local MP but also because of the central government’s initiatives. The connectivity of this Lok Sabha seat is remarkable. However, there are still unresolved issues that have persisted for years. The 2024 general elections are crucial for Bengaluru South, with the electorate critically evaluating the work of their MP. India News is conducting an accurate survey to gauge the public’s opinion, and the people’s verdict will soon be in front of the nation.
The number of questions… We evaluate parliamentary performance based on MP Nidhi’s expenditure and special contributions. Tejasvi Surya’s presence in Parliament is around 77%. Additionally, he actively participates in debates and questions, contributing approximately 96%. He consistently raises questions and works towards the development of the constituency and the country. In terms of MP Nidhi’s expenditure, about 105% of the allocated funds have been utilized, while his special contribution to parliamentary activities is around 80%. Based on these factors, MP Tejasvi Surya scores 0.89, which is considered excellent.
Although parliamentary performance may have minimal significance during elections, the real measure is what the public thinks about their MP on the ground. In India News’ survey, we asked the people of Bengaluru South Lok Sabha constituency a few questions, and their responses were candid.
In response to our six questions, the people of Bengaluru South Lok Sabha constituency provided straightforward answers. Most people believe that their MP’s work in the constituency is excellent, with a consistent focus on development. Clearly, the public is pleased with the MP’s work, and they want to see even more active involvement in the constituency. During elections, the majority of people here seem to favour the BJP, expressing satisfaction with the Modi government and the MP’s efforts for development. The people of Bengaluru South Lok Sabha constituency give a rating of 5.18, which can be considered excellent, based on the criteria of development in the area.
In India News’ survey, the people of Bengaluru South Lok Sabha constituency were asked similar questions as in our ground survey, focusing on the MP’s performance. The results from social media surveys are also being presented. In the social media survey, the MP is receiving around 0.80 in the top rating, which is quite favourable. Approximately 80% of people on social media have a positive opinion about the MP. In our ground survey, the MP is rated at 0.75 in the top category, indicating a commendable performance in the ground scenario. Combining all these scores, MP Tejasvi Surya received a score of 7.62 in our comprehensive survey, which is remarkable. Therefore, the people of Bengaluru South Lok Sabha constituency have given MP Tejasvi Surya a clear ‘PASS’ on his report card.
The ground survey involved conversations with thousands of people, reaching viewers with interesting figures. After talking to women, men, farmers, labourers, students, and people from every religion and caste, an intriguing figure emerged. Tejasvi Surya, the MP from Bengaluru South Lok Sabha constituency, is scoring more than 76%, and based on our criteria, the MP is entirely passing with flying colours.
