Out of the 200 Vidhan Sabha seats in Rajasthan, one seat is Pali. The credit for its establishment goes to the Paliwal Brahmins. The birthplace of the brave warrior Maharana Pratap was in the Pali district. Pali is famous for the production, dyeing, and printing of cotton and synthetic fabrics worldwide. In addition to this, the Jain temples in the district attract not only the people but also historians. Similarly, Somnath and Naulakha temples are also the centres of Hindu religious faith.
Currently, the Pali seat is under the control of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and BJP’s Gyan Chand Parakh is the MLA from this constituency. Speaking of the political history of this seat, from 1952 to 1985, the Congress held a stronghold on this seat in the Marwar region. However, after 1985, this seat became a stronghold of the BJP. Gyan Chand Parakh, representing the BJP, has maintained dominance in the political arena of Pali for the past 25 years. In 1957, the original member of Congress, Mool Chand, won the Pali Vidhan Sabha seat and represented the Assembly. In 1962, Kesar Singh from the Swatantra Party became the MLA. In 1985, the BJP made a comeback, and Pushpa Devi from the BJP won the elections. In 1990, the Janata Party blessed Pushp Jain from the BJP with a victory. In 1993, for the first time, an independent candidate, Bhim Raj Bhati, won the elections and reached the Vidhan Sabha. After that, in subsequent elections, Gyan Chand Parakh had the upper hand, winning the elections five times consecutively. Gyan Chand Parakh waved the BJP’s flag in the Vidhan
