Israel to Build 3 New Transportation Terminals in North

Israel’s Ministry of Transportation has approved a strategic plan to develop three state-of-the-art transportation terminals in the northern regions, targeting improved public transport services in Ma’alot Tarshiha, Kfar Kana, and Harish.

Details of the Project

Ma’alot Tarshiha Terminal
The Ma’alot Tarshiha terminal will be an integrated facility serving:

  • 3 Urban lines
  • 6 Regional lines
  • 7 Intercity lines

This terminal will include an overnight parking lot with 110 bus spaces, incorporating charging stations to support Israel’s transition to green public transportation.

Kfar Kana Terminal

The Kfar Kana terminal, located in the northern industrial area, will serve as an operational hub rather than a passenger facility. It will cater to:

  • 7 Urban and regional lines in the Nazareth area.

Harish Terminal

In Harish, a developing city, the new terminal will accommodate existing urban and regional bus routes while also supporting newly planned lines.

Public Transport Statistics

In 2023, Israel recorded 853 million trips on public transportation, with buses accounting for 87% of these trips (740 million). Despite advancements like light rail and metro systems, buses remain a vital component of the country’s transport infrastructure.

Green Public Transportation Vision

This project aligns with Israel’s commitment to eco-friendly transportation, featuring charging stations for electric buses and sustainable facilities to reduce the environmental footprint of public transit.
