The historic city of Janakpur in Nepal commemorated the first anniversary of the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ of Lord Ram Lalla’s idol at Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir on January 11, 2025. The celebration was marked by lighting an astonishing 1.25 lakh lamps, symbolizing devotion and unity.
Organized by the Dhanusha chapter of Bishwo Hindu Parisad Nepal, the event included mesmerizing Jhaki, sacred Hawan, a vibrant Ganga Aarti, and an elaborate rangoli at the Janaki Temple. Ashutosh Jha, national spokesperson of Janaki Sena, highlighted the meticulous arrangements for the grand festivities, saying,
“This year, like the last, we celebrated with lamps, aarti, and rangoli to honor this sacred occasion.”
Festivities in Nepal and Ayodhya
In Ayodhya, the spiritual capital of Lord Ram, the day was equally grand. The Mahabhishek ceremony at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple drew thousands of devotees. Rituals began early with Agnihotra performed twice, followed by the chanting of six lakh Shri Ram Mantras and recitation of sacred texts like Ram Raksha Stotra and Hanuman Chalisa.
Later in the day, cultural activities, including ‘Rag Seva’ and devotional songs, were held at the temple. Musical recitations of Ramcharitmanas added to the fervor.
A Year of Milestones for Ram Mandir
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple on January 22, 2024. Since then, the temple has seen an overwhelming response, with over 2 lakh devotees visiting on the first day of 2024 alone.
Construction Committee Chairman Nripendra Misra confirmed that the temple complex is progressing rapidly, with completion expected by mid-2025. Misra added,
“January marks an important month for Ayodhya, with the anniversary celebrations and upcoming Maha Kumbh attracting large crowds.”
A Symbol of Unity and Faith
The festivities in Janakpur and Ayodhya signify the cultural and spiritual bond between India and Nepal, reflecting the shared devotion to Lord Ram. As Chief Mahant of Janaki Temple Ram Tapeshwor Das remarked,
“Our happiness knows no bounds as we celebrate this historic moment together.”
