Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Manoj Pande addressed the 76th Army Day parade in Lucknow on Monday, providing insights into the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and other regions. General Pande acknowledged that while the situation in Jammu and Kashmir remains under control, there has been a surge in terrorist activities in the southern region of Pir Panjal and Rajouri-Poonch in recent months.

Despite the challenges, General Pande asserted that the continuous efforts of security personnel have led to a significant reduction in violence in the interior areas of Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted that while there is a ceasefire on the Line of Control (LoC), attempts to infiltrate continue, indicating the persistence of terror infrastructure across the border. The Army has successfully foiled these infiltration attempts through vigilant operations.

Addressing the audience, the COAS emphasized the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders to eradicate the terror network in the country. He underlined the proactive policies of the government, leading to important peace accords and dialogues with local insurgent groups in the northeast. These initiatives have resulted in positive developments, contributing to the restoration of peace in the region.

General Pande also highlighted the improved situation in Manipur, crediting the proactive stance of the government and the dedicated efforts of the Indian Army. He commended the soldiers for displaying maturity in sensitive environments, noting that concrete efforts are underway to establish peace and harmony in the state.

Regarding the northern borders, the COAS assured that the Army is fully ready and competent to handle any situation. He outlined concrete steps taken to enhance capabilities, including emergency procurement of modern equipment with niche technology. Special attention has been given to developing critical infrastructure in border areas, demonstrating substantial progress in this area.

In conclusion, General Manoj Pande reassured the nation that the Indian Army remains committed to safeguarding national security and maintaining peace in various regions, demonstrating resilience and preparedness in the face of evolving challenges.
