Apple’s Glowtime event, scheduled for Monday, is expected to announce the much-anticipated iPhone 16 and Apple Watch X. However, Apple Intelligence, the company’s new AI feature, is set to steal the show.
Apple’s commitment to generative AI was first revealed at the WWDC keynote in June, and now, the company is rolling out Apple Intelligence for public testing—albeit only in developer beta form for now. Apple Intelligence is designed to revolutionize the way users interact with their devices by enhancing functionality across Apple’s operating systems, such as iOS, iPadOS, and MacOS.
The AI-powered tools, including advanced writing suggestions, photo editing capabilities, and a significant upgrade to Siri, are available in Apple’s developer beta of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and MacOS Sequoia 15.1. These features aim to streamline tasks by providing context-aware suggestions based on user behavior and data stored across devices.
While many are eager to try these new capabilities, the full public release of Apple Intelligence isn’t expected until later this year, when it will roll out in beta form to select devices with specific chipsets. Devices like the iPhone 15 Pro models and M-series chip iPads and Macs will be among the first to experience the new technology.

Despite the hype, the features won’t be available to all Apple users. Initially, only devices such as the iPhone 15 Pro, iPad Air (M1 and M2), MacBook Pro (M1, M2, and M3), and certain iPads and Macs with the necessary chipsets will support Apple Intelligence.
One of the most exciting aspects of Apple Intelligence is its integration with Siri. The AI-powered upgrade offers a more natural-sounding voice, contextual conversations, and a new visual design featuring a glowing border around the display when Siri is active. Users will also be able to type to Siri with a simple double-tap on the screen.
Other enhancements include instant memory movie requests in the Photos app and AI-generated summaries in apps like Messages, Mail, Notifications, and Notes. While certain features like ChatGPT plug-ins and Apple’s GenMoji aren’t available yet, the developer beta hints at the immense potential of Apple Intelligence.
Apple has been clear that privacy remains a cornerstone of its AI initiatives. Apple Intelligence operates on-device and in Apple’s secure cloud servers, which the company calls Private Cloud Compute. It processes user prompts either locally on the device or in the cloud, ensuring that personal data is not compromised.
The public release of Apple Intelligence is expected later this fall with an opt-in beta feature. For now, it’s only accessible in the developer beta with Siri set to US English.
