Amit Sharma, Administrative Secretary of the Information Technology Department, UT Ladakh, led a pivotal meeting today aimed at advancing significant initiatives for technological growth and community development within the region. Held at the VC Conference Hall, Civil Secretariat, Leh, the meeting focused on the progress of the MietY Project at the University of Ladakh (UoL) and the Atal Community Innovation Centre, facilitated by NITI Aayog.

Secretary IT Amit Sharma underscored the pivotal role of these initiatives in propelling Ladakh towards a future driven by technology and innovation. He emphasized the importance of collaboration among academia, government bodies, and industry stakeholders to fully leverage the potential of these projects. Praising the proactive engagement of UoL and NITI Aayog, Sharma highlighted their efforts in fostering entrepreneurship and innovation within the region.

During the meeting, plans were discussed to organize a Disaster Management Workshop tailored for UoL students, aimed at equipping them with essential skills to respond to emergencies effectively and mitigate risks.

Secretary Amit Sharma reiterated the importance of ensuring the safety and resilience of the local community through proactive measures. Discussions also addressed sustainable energy practices, including exploring renewable energy sources to meet Ladakh’s growing energy needs while preserving its pristine environment.

As the meeting concluded, Secretary Amit Sharma expressed confidence in the transformative impact of these initiatives. He called upon all stakeholders to intensify efforts in realizing Ladakh’s vision of inclusive growth, technological excellence, and sustainable development.

The meeting witnessed the participation of key stakeholders including Prof. S. K. Mehta, Vice Chancellor of the University of Ladakh; Phunchok Paldan, Director of NIC Ladakh; Mohit Sharma, Under Secretary, RDD, UT Ladakh; Dr Subrat Sharma and Dr Joldan, Dean Research and Academics at UoL respectively; Showkat Ali, Scientist-B at NIC Ladakh; and other experts and consultants from the IT Department, UT Ladakh.

The gathering exemplified a concerted effort to drive innovation and foster community-centric development in Ladakh through collaborative initiatives spearheaded by the Information Technology Department.
